[Notice]
The opening ceremony of the 16th Korea Queer Culture Festival 2015 (KQCF) at Seoul City Hall Square will be held online with people all around the world together.
The organization committee of KQCF (KQCF OC, hereafter) decided to hold the opening ceremony at Seoul City Hall Square on June 9th, replacing with live broadcast online via Youtube.
KQCF OC has considered the safety of festival participants as a top priority all the time. Related to the rapid spread of MERSC (Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus), we judged that the health of people who support and participate in the festival is the most important in this situation. Hence, even though OC used much budget on the opening ceremony, we made a hard decision to hold opening ceremony with minimum number of staffs and without any field participants and to broadcast online to guarantee the safety of participants and prevent the spread of MERSC.
The 16th KQCF opening ceremony will be held on the 9th of June as planned and announced. Participants, however, will take part in the opening ceremony not by gathering on the Seoul City Hall Square, but by watching the live broadcast online via Youtube. Please be with us online with watching the 16th KQCF opening ceremony. The broadcast time will be approximately an hour with various meaningful programs such as shows, congratulatory messages from solidarity groups, and rainbow balloon embroidering throughout the Seoul City Hall Square.
Starting from the opening ceremony on June 9th, the 16th Korea Queer Culture Festival this year goes on a big run of 3 weeks with Main Party – Private Beach, Korea Queer Film Festival (KQFF), and Seoul Queer Parade. OC exerts every effort on the health and safety of those who supports and takes part in every events of KQCF.
KQCF OC sincerely hopes not to have more infected person caused by MERSC, We promise to strictly follow all the safe guideline of Seoul City and Health Authorities including the epidemic prevention activity plan of MERSC.
