■ Seoul Queer Parade

□ Seoul Queer Parade is a public event open to everyone, created together by people of diverse sexual orientations, gender identities, and other identities. Please help us make the day safe and joyful while respecting others and their ways of participating.

□ We do not allow any activities or participation that aim to spread hate toward LGBTQIA+ people or other social minorities. Seoul Queer Parade does not tolerate any action that threatens the safety of others, such as violence, threats, aggressive shouting, hate speech, or bullying.

■ Staff

□ All staff will wear white T-shirts with a rainbow on their left chest, and they may wear vests or other identifiers depending on their roles. Staff members take on various roles, including event operations, safety management, medical support, documentation, photography, and filming.

- Members of the organizing committee and veteran volunteers: Black vest

- Medical volunteers: Neon vests

- Volunteers: Blue vests

- Official photographers and videographers: Yellow vests

□ If you have any concerns or questions, don’t hesitate to talk to a nearby staff member.

■ Public Transportation

□ Please use public transportation to the venue to help ensure safety and reduce congestion around the venue.

□ If you will be driving, please use the nearby parking lots since there is no parking at the venue.

■ First Aid Station and Shelter

□ If you’re having a health issue or need rest, you can use the First Aid Station and shelter. You can find its location on the venue map or ask staff on-site.

- Medical professionals and volunteers will be stationed at the First Aid Station along with basic emergency medications.

■ Restrooms and Facilities

□ Please check the venue map for the locations of restrooms and other facilities. They may be crowded depending on the time of day.

- Portable restrooms, including wheelchair- and stroller-accessible restrooms, will be available at the venue, and all restrooms will be operated as gender-neutral restrooms.

- If you need to find another restroom, you may use nearby public restrooms. Search “화장실(restroom)” in a map app to find public restrooms near your current location.

□ Recycling stations will be set up at the venue, and a professional cleaning service will be on-site to manage recycling, waste disposal, cleanliness, and sanitation.

■ Lost and Found

□ If you’ve lost any of your belongings or found any lost items, please visit the lost and found booth.

■ Filming and Interviews

□ Seoul Queer Parade is a public event, and there will be official photographers and videographers and media outlets and external photographers/videographers. If you don’t want to be filmed or interviewed, you have the right to refuse at any time.

□ Seoul Queer Culture Festival Official Filming Notice

- Official photographers will be on-site to document and promote the Seoul Queer Parade. Please smile brightly when you see them.

- Official photos and videos may be used on the official website, official social media accounts, and other publications for the purposes of documentation, promotion, event operation, reference, and archiving by the Seoul Queer Culture Festival and Seoul Queer Parade. Participants at the venue may appear in these photos and videos.

- If you have any inquiries regarding this matter, please ask a staff member in person or contact our Department of Operations and Support at giji@sqcf.org.

□ Press and External Media

- Seoul Queer Parade offers reporting and filming guidelines for various press and media channels with press cards. 

- If you are asked to be interviewed or filmed, please check for their press cards. Confirming their affiliation and the purpose of the interview, and getting their name with contact info may be helpful.

■ Accessibility and Getting Around

□ The venue and parade route may become very crowded. Please be aware of your surroundings when moving.

□ If you need mobility assistance or have difficulties with overstimulation, walking, or accessing visual or auditory information, please approach our staff. If you are here with a support worker, you can reach us through them as well.

□ You might experience anxiety or fatigue from a large crowd and noise. Please take breaks whenever needed.

■ Accessibility

□ Wheelchair Accessibility

- You can move through the parade course and the event venue with a wheelchair.

- There are wheelchair-accessible portable toilets at the venue.

□ Sign Language Interpretation and Live Captioning

- Sign language interpretation and live captioning (both offered in Korean) will be provided for stage programs and shown on the stage screen.

- Stage programs are also broadcast through YouTube with sign language interpretation and live captioning.

■ Crowded Areas, Sensory Environment, and Shelter

□ Loud noises, music, and big crowds may cause overstimulation or fatigue. Please take a break outside the venue or in our shelters when needed.

- It may help to bring earplugs and headphones if you are sensitive to loud noises.

□ You can take a moment to rest and recharge at the shelters. Please pace yourself during the event.

■ When Accompanying Children

□ Please stay with children at all times.

- Children may become separated from their guardians in large crowds, so please stay with children at all times.

- Please avoid crowded areas if your children might be stressed about the heat, noise, and fatigue.

□ Please prepare in case children become separated or emergencies occur.

- Check the locations of lost and found and information booths near the entrance and exit.

- Please make sure your children remember their guardian’s name and contact information, or have those with them in writing.

■ For Pregnant Participants

□ Please avoid overexerting yourself and get enough rest.

- Please avoid walking or standing for an extended period of time and be prepared for the physical strain from the heat and the crowd. Please stay hydrated and take seated breaks from time to time.

■ For Senior Attendees

□ Please take your physical condition and health into consideration.

- You may have to stand or walk for an extended period of time during the festival.

- Please take enough rest and bring water, snacks, and light food.

- Please avoid waiting in a long line and move at your own pace.

□ We recommend having someone to accompany you.

- Please have a companion (family member, acquaintance) to help prevent falls or disorientation.

■ Health Problems and Medications

□ Please check your health conditions before the event.

- Those with medical conditions or under regular medication are advised to take a brief health check before the event.

- If you take any personal medications or may need over-the-counter medicines, we recommend bringing them with you so that you have what you need during the event.

□ Inform those around you in case of an emergency.

- If attending with a companion, it is helpful to share information regarding medications and symptoms in advance.

■ When Accompanying Pets

□ Large crowds and loud noises may startle or stress pets, so please bring a carrier.

■ Hydration and Rest

□ Please drink plenty of water during the festival. It is also recommended to take regular breaks in the shade or at designated rest areas from time to time. Excessive caffeine or alcohol can lead to increased fatigue later on.

□ You may feel unwell or different from usual during the event. Please prioritize your well-being and feel free to take a break or leave the event at any time.

■ Extreme Heat and Sunlight

□ Prepare hats, parasols, and sunscreen in case of heatwaves or strong sunlight. Portable fans and water may also come in handy.

□ Extended activity in hot weather may lead to symptoms such as low blood sugar, dizziness, dehydration, shortness of breath, headaches, and nausea. Please inform nearby staff members in case of such symptoms. 

■ Rain

□ Walk slowly and carefully.

- Roads may be slippery in the rain. Please be mindful and walk slowly.

□ Please wear a raincoat.

- Please prepare any necessary waterproof items to prevent personal belongings from getting wet in the rain. We recommend a raincoat rather than an umbrella as you may bump into others in the crowd.

□ Please focus on maintaining visibility and follow staff guidance.

- The rain may impair visibility, so please remain alert to your surroundings and pay close attention to audio announcements and staff instructions.

■ Safety While Moving

□ Maintain a safe distance from the person ahead of you. Stopping or changing direction abruptly may lead to collisions with other participants.

□ Please move slowly and keep pace with your surroundings in narrow or crowded areas.

- If you find it difficult to move because the crowd is too dense, please pause to adjust your spacing. Follow staff guidance to continue moving in an orderly manner.

□ For those holding flags:

- Participants holding flags are advised to take turns with surrounding participants to prevent exhaustion.

- Please be aware that the height of power lines and trees may be different for each section.

■ When Around Vehicles and Structures

□ Please avoid getting too close to parade vehicles during the march. Follow on-site guidance from our staff and maintain a safe distance from vehicles.

□ Please make sure that flagpoles and personal belongings don’t hit other participants.

- Please be careful not to collide with vehicles or pedestrians outside the parade as you march.

- Vehicles such as buses and passenger cars will pass through the opposite lane of the parade route.

□ Please be mindful of your surroundings and maintain a safe distance when taking photos or moving locations.

□ Staff members are stationed throughout the parade route to help ensure participants’ safety. Please follow the on-site guidance of the staff.

■ In Case of Emergencies

□ Contact the closest staff member immediately.

- Staff members will help with emergency responses. Medical volunteers will be wearing neon vests.

- Please cooperate with staff guidance for swift treatment.

□ If calling 119 emergency services is necessary:

- Do not leave the site and cooperate in securing adequate space for staff members to respond quickly.

□ In case of clashes with anti-LGBTQIA+ groups, notify nearby staff rather than responding directly.

- Staff members are in charge of on-site response to ensure participants’ safety.

■ Contacting Companions

□ We recommend deciding on a meeting place and a way to contact your companions in advance in case the area becomes crowded.

- Bringing a power bank may be helpful in case your phone battery runs low.

■ After the Parade

□ Vehicles and participants may not be able to move smoothly if the final destination is crowded. Please follow staff instructions and enter the venue as soon as you arrive in order to secure space for everyone.

- Please enjoy the celebratory performances prepared for participants who returned safely from the parade.

Reporting Guidelines on LGBTQIA+ Human Rights

- Reports should approach LGBTQIA+ people from a human rights perspective that recognizes the dignity and equality of all people, rather than from perspectives of curiosity or exclusion.

- Do not treat the existence of LGBTQIA+ people as a matter of debate or controversy. Human rights are not subject to debate, and hate speech cannot be framed as an opposing opinion.

- Do not link sexual minorities to specific diseases or criminal offenses.

- Do not disclose one’s gender identity regardless of the context of the article, and if necessary, indicate their desired gender identity after confirmation.

- Do not use expressions that demean LGBTQIA+ people or distort the truth.

- Do not directly quote or distribute remarks or comments containing hate speech that mock sexual minorities.

- Do not portray sexual minorities as victims only, and present a balanced view of their diverse lives.

Let us institutionalize internal training and reporting & editing guidelines to uphold the rights of sexual minorities, and build an organizational culture where LGBTQIA+ colleagues can work safely and equally.
